The Saginaw Spirit has proudly partnered with Pulse3 Foundation and Mobile Medical Response for the past 12 years to host the annual Shocks and Saves® Charity Game held at The Dow Event Center in Saginaw, MI. This event funds Pulse3 Foundation’s AED Grant Program which annually awards Automated External Defibrillators and provides free training to local non-profit organizations throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and Thumb.

Saginaw Spirit President and Managing Partner Craig Goslin stated, “The Saginaw Spirit are proud to continue our partnership with Pulse3 Foundation and Mobile Medical Response. This is truly one of the premier events during our hockey season, as shown by the record-breaking attendance of 5,622 that evening at The Dow Event Center. I would like to thank Mark Hitchcock from Pulse3, Lynn Schutter from Mobile Medical Response, the Detroit Red Wings Alumni Association, and Jiri Fischer, for his moving presentation to our fans before the game. This is more than just Hockey, this event is saving lives!”

Since 2008, this event has raised over $650,000, allowing the placement of 220 AED’s throughout the Great Lakes Bay Region and Thumb. In that time, those AED’s have saved a total of 11 lives of people experiencing cardiac arrest in the community.

Mark Hitchcock, CEO of the Pulse3 Foundation recently stated, “I am a strong advocate of collaboration and partnership, which was again on full display during the 12th Annual Shocks & Saves® Charity Hockey Game.  This event is a true partnership between Pulse3, MMR, the Saginaw Spirit, over 40 volunteers, nearly 30 sponsors, 60+ On Ice Students of Hands Only CPR, 28 Charity Game players, 6 NHL Alumni, 8 Lifesavers, 8 Cardiac First Responders, and 2 Survivors…with a singular mission!  Again, we all came together to raise over $60,000 in donations and services this year alone!”

The Pulse3 Foundation’s mission is “We strive to create a community that is vibrant and healthy while championing caused related to education, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular disease.”  For more information about the Pulse3 Foundation, go to or call 989.907.7283.
