Saginaw Spirit forward Cole Perfetti made history Tuesday night becoming the highest player selected in the NHL Draft in franchise history. The 5’10”, 177-pound center was selected in the first round, 10th overall by the Winnipeg Jets.
The 18-year-old was the fifth ranked North American skater going into the Draft by NHL Central Scouting Service after finishing second in Ontario Hockey League scoring during the 2019-20 season. The sophomore forward was selected fifth overall by the Spirit in the 2018 OHL Priority Selection and was highly regarded by Western Conference coaches in the OHL’s annual poll.
