Saginaw Spirit Complete 2014 OHL Priority Selection

04/05/14 Spirit Spirit Conclude 2014 OHL Priority Selection

The Saginaw Spirit welcomed 11 incoming players to the system with today’s completion of the 2014 Ontario Hockey League Priority Selection. Of the 11 players selected, seven are forwards, three are defenseman, with one goaltender also taken.

1st Round (10th overall) – Tye Felhaber – Center – Ottawa Valley Titans

GP- 30    G-38    A-34    PTS-72    PIM-36

Scouting Report: Tye is an offensive centre that can bring you out of your seat when he has the puck on his stick. He may be one of the best one-on-one players in this draft and often makes defenders look very average at times. He is a very good skater, with excellent quickness and agility which makes him very hard to handle in open ice.  He has huge upside to be a very good player in our league.

3rd Round (50th overall) – Keaton Middleton – Defence – Huron Perth Lakers

GP- 31    G-3    A-20    PTS-23    PIM-24

Scouting Report: Keaton is a very intimidating presence on the ice. At 6’5”, he towers over all the other players in his age group. He isn’t afraid to take the body and he wins the majority of his battles in the corners and in front of the net. Keaton is not the prettiest skater in the world but he does get from A to B pretty well. He has a good shot but needs to improve on his release as he gets it blocked often. Due to his size he is always going to get looked at
and he does have a lot of other good things going for him.

4th Round (68th overall) – Nick Pastujov – Left Wing – Detroit Honeybaked

GP- 11    G-3    A-9    PTS-12    PIM-8

Scouting Report: Nick is one of the top forwards in the U.S. in his age group. He does everything very well and is very hard to contain because of his skill and solid build. He is a player that you can use in every situation because he has the will and smarts to play well defensively and he is gifted with great offensive skills and instincts. Nick anticipates the play well and the puck seems to follow him around the ice. He seems to have the puck on his stick a lot and distributes the puck well, making his linemates better.

8th Round (150th overall) – Jacob Miller – Center – Halton Hurricanes

GP- 40    G-16    A-12    PTS-28    PIM-24

9th Round (170th overall) – Andrew Jackson – Right Wing – Belle Tire Minor Midgets

GP- 31    G-6    A-5    PTS-11    PIM-30

10th Round (190th overall) – Joseph Murdaca – Goaltender – Hamilton Bulldogs

 GP-21    W- 15    L-2    T-2

11th Round (210th overall) – Troy Williams – Defense – Thunder Bay Kings

GP- 55    G-14    A-20    PTS-34    PIM-22

12th Round (230th overall) – Igor Larionov Jr. – Forward – Detroit Honeybaked

GP- 3    G-0    A-0    PTS-0    PIM-0

13th Round (250th overall) – Cole Robbins – Defense – Peterborough Minor Midgets

GP- 36    G-4    A-20    PTS-24    PIM-32
