Dave Drinkill – General Manager

Dave Drinkill enters his fifth season as General Manager of the Saginaw Spirit after being named to the position in July 2015.

In 2003, Dave Drinkill’s passion for the sport found him with the Sudbury Wolves working closely with promotions and communications.  Two years later, Drinkill paved his way to the AHL, adding the Hamilton Bulldogs to his Hockey Operations experience.

The following year brought big changes for the Elmvale, Ontario native. Drinkill graduated from Laurentian University in 2006 with a degree in sports management and was hired by the OHL’s Barrie Colts as the Hockey Operations Team Statistician.   Under the wing of Barrie’s General Manager Jason Ford, Drinkill worked his way up the ladder of the Colts organization.  Before Drinkill became the Assistant General Manager of the Barrie Colts in 2011, he worked as the video coach to the hockey club.

Serving as the Assistant General Manager to the Barrie Colts for four seasons and working with the Colts franchise for nine years altogether, brought an unyielding passion to the hockey industry for Dave Drinkill.

During his time with the Colts as the Assistant General Manager, Drinkill helped the club to three 40-win seasons in addition to an Eastern Conference Championship in the 2009-10 and 2012-13 campaigns. Not only has Dave Drinkill spent a lofty amount of time with the OHL, but also had a hand in the Under 16 Program of Excellence, and the OHL Gold Cup.
