2015 draftee signs an OHL Standard Player Agreement

SAGINAW, Mich. – Saginaw Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill announced Thursday the commitment of 2015 eighth round pick Brock Hill to the hockey club for the 2016-17 season.

“Brock is a player that has developed his game since being drafted in the eighth round in 2015 and has earned this opportunity. After development camp, we asked him to continue to work on his game this summer, on and off the ice. He came to main camp and it was clear he put the work in that he needed to do to become an OHL player. Welcome Brock to the Saginaw Spirit family.”

Hill, 17, spent the 2015-16 campaign with the Team Illinois U18’s. The Gurnee, Illinois native registered one assists in 22 games, but tacked on 75 penalty minutes. The 6’3, 205 pound defenseman uses his large frame and imposing figure to keep opposing team’s top players at bay. Hill impressed at Spirit training camp, scoring a goal and delivering some punishing body checks.

Hill and the rest of his Spirit teammates are getting prepared for a preseason tussle on Saturday night against the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. The puck drops at 7:05 p.m. at The Dow Event Center. For ticket information, call (989) 497-7747.
