Spirit acquire overage forward Theo Hill from Sarnia

Saginaw, Mich. – Saginaw Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill announced Friday (Sept. 23) the team has executed a trade with the Sarnia Sting acquiring overage centerman Theo Hill in exchange for three future draft picks.

“As an organization, we targeted a few potential overage players this summer that would be a great fit for our organization, if they became available. Theo was one of those players. He is extremely fast, competitive, and combined with his skill, we feel we are acquiring a player that can help our group now and also help teach our younger players what it takes to be successful in our league.”

The three draft picks included in the deal are a 2024 11th round pick (SAG), a fourth round pick in 2025 (LDN), and a fourth round pick in 2026 (SAG).

Hill, 20, enters his fourth year in the OHL in the 2022-23 season after the Sarnia Sting selected Hill in the fifth round, 99th overall in the 2018 Priority Selection Draft.

The 6-foot, 175-pound native of Hagersville, Ontario has appeared in 180 career regular season games and seven OHL Playoff games scoring 35 goals and 47 assists for 82 points.

Hill participated in the 2022 NHL Prospect Tournament on a free agent invite from the St. Louis Blues.

The Spirit open the 2022-23 regular season against the Guelph Storm on Saturday, October 1st at The Dow Event Center. Single-game, flex packs, and full season ticket memberships are on sale now at saginawspirit.com or at the Saginaw Spirit Store at 6321 State Street in Saginaw Township.
