Saginaw Spirit complete 2021 OHL Priority Selection

Saginaw, MI – The Saginaw Spirit made their first step toward the 2021-22 Ontario Hockey League season with the commencement of the 2021 Priority Selection presented by Real Canadian Superstore on Friday evening. For the first time, the league has split the draft into two sessions, with Friday featuring Rounds one through three, and finishing on Saturday with Rounds 4-15.
Saginaw owned two picks in the opening three rounds, including 15th overall and 29th overall from the North Bay Battalion.
With the 15th overall pick, the Spirit selected Luke McNamara from Bishop Kearney Selects. The Mississauga, Ontario native had 20 goals and 25 assists for 45 points during the 2020-21 season.
The Spirit used to the 29th selection to pick defenseman Olivier Savard from the Toronto Nationals. Though Savard was sidelined last season due to the cancellation of Minor Hockey in Ontario, Savard scored 17 points in 33 games at the U15 level with the Mississauga Reps during the 2019-20 season.
