The Saginaw Spirit are back on the ice Saturday, virtually, as the first ever CHL Memorial e-Cup presented by Kia commences.
Today, the Spirit, represented by overage forward Danny Katic, take on the Spokane Chiefs of the Western Hockey League represented by overage defenseman Matt Leduc.
The puck drop for today’s game is set for 3:55 p.m. ET and can be streamed live on Facebook Live and Twitch.
Katic and the Spirit are coming off of a 6-3 win on Wednesday night in exhibition e-play with the Flint Firebirds’ Riley Piercey. Virtual Danny Katic was the game’s first star, scoring twice for the Spirit.
“I’m pretty excited about this,” said Katic, in preparation for his match Saturday. “I am pretty sure this is the first time they have done this sort of thing so I am not really sure what to expect, skill level wise.”
The competition commences as a single-elimination tournament, with semi-final and final-round action then seeing players go head-to-head in a best-of-three format. Tournament play begins November 28 with a 10-game set while the ultimate champion will be crowned December 17.
