Everett, Jenkins, and Grondin on NHL Central Scouting Watch List for 2018 NHL Draft

SAGINAW, Mich. – On Tuesday, NHL Central Scouting released its initial ‘Players to Watch’ list for the 2018 NHL Draft. Of the players that were rated from junior and pro leagues around the world, Caleb Everett, Blade Jenkins, and Max Grondin of the Saginaw Spirit cracked the first list for the 2017-18 season.

Everett, 17, is in his first season as a member of the Spirit after winning the Under-16 National Championship with the Detroit Compuware Program last season. The Spirit announced the commitment of the Pleasant Lake, Michigan native on June 20, 2017 with a press conference held at the Saginaw Spirit offices. Everett has appeared in only one game this season after an injury in the season opener against Windsor.

The Spirit welcomed 2016 first round pick Blade Jenkins to the club this season, after announcing his commitment on May 4, 2017. The Jackson, Michigan native has one assist in his first four OHL games, but NHL scouts have identified the 6’1, 195-pound center as a player to watch heading into this seasons NHL Draft.

Center Max Grondin enters his second year with the Spirit during the 2017-18 season. Grondin is currently tied for the team lead in assists (2) and points (3) through the first four games of the 2017-18 season. The 6’3, 205-pound center from Hearst, Ontario was a second round pick of the Spirit in the 2016 OHL Priority Selection.

All three Spirit players on the NHL Central Scouting Watch List are “C” rated, which grades them as projected fourth, fifth, or sixth round picks in the upcoming NHL Draft.

The 23 players on the list with “A” ratings are considered potential first-round picks. Players with “B” ratings are considered possible second- or third-round choices, and those with “C” ratings are potential fourth-, fifth- or sixth-round selections.
