Select GTHL leading-scorer Cole Perfetti in 1st round, Saginaw native Mitchell Smith, and Kris Draper’s son Kienan

The Saginaw Spirit made 13 picks in Saturday’s OHL Priority Selection Draft to complete their 50-man roster heading into the 2018-19 season. Listed below are the Spirit 13 draft picks.

2018 OHL Draft--5th Overall-- Perfetti

1st Round (5th overall) – Cole Perfetti, Vaughan Kings

GP-64 G-52  A-73 PTS-125 (led GTHL in scoring)

SCOUTING REPORT: Cole is a gifted and offensively dangerous player that can take control of a game with a single shift. He has deceiving speed as he looks as if he is not moving and then next thing you know he has just walked around a defenceman. He is quick in and out of holes and is hard to stay with because he is so good on his edges. He is a pure playmaker and sees the ice better than some people do from the stands. Cole is creative and can make something out of nothing. He is always around the puck.

2018 OHL Draft--26th-- Lennox

2nd Round (26th overall) – Tristan Lennox, Mississauga Reps

Stats: N/A

SCOUTING REPORT: Tristan is one of the top goalies in the GTHL this season. He is a big, technically sound goalie that has very few weaknesses in his game. Every game he plays in he gives his team a chance to win. He is very athletic and moves well in his crease. He moves well laterally and he challenges shooters well. He handles the puck very well and acts like a third defencemen when he gets out to handle the puck. Tristan is mentally strong and is focused from the start of the game.
