The Saginaw Spirit have added to the team’s depth at the goaltending position with the selection of Russian born Nikita Serebryakov, in the 2012 CHL Import Draft. Serebryakov spent this past season with the Moscow Dynamo Jr. program and he was also selected in the recent KHL Draft in the second round by Moscow Dynamo.

The 1995 year, native of Moscow was also a standout at the 2012 World Under 17 Challenge leading Russia to the Gold Medal at the tournament held in Windsor. In five games played, Serebryakov had five wins, a goals against average of 2.72 and a save percentage of .930.

Serebryakov was selected 18th overall and with the 33rd pick the Spirit chose another Russian born skater, left wing Andrey Alexeev to complete their draft. The 1995 year Alexeev played last season for Balashikha HC.
