Former Spirit Captain Jordan Szwarz Makes NHL Debut

Former Saginaw Spirit Captain Jordan Szwarz, one of the most popular players in the history of the franchise, has made his NHL debut with the Phoenix Coyotes. After a call up from the Coyotes AHL affiliate the Portland Pirates, Szwarz saw just over eight minutes of ice this past Tuesday, in a 3-1 win by Phoenix over the Los Angeles Kings.

Szwarz was named the Captain of the Pirates earlier this season, and ranks among the Spirit’s top all time offensive performers. His 204 regular season points places Szwarz fifth all time, and he left the program as the organization’s fifth leading producer of assists, and tied for sixth in all time goals.
