The Saginaw Spirit Dial Up the Offense in a Win Over Barrie

The Saginaw Spirit welcomed the Barrie Colts to the Dow Event Center on October 26th, 2013.

The Spirit’s offense put the pressure on Colts goalie MacKenzie Blackwood during the first period with 12 shots on goal, and despite some good chances for Saginaw the period ended with a score of 0-0.

The first 9 minutes of the second period remained without goal until 9:04 when Barrie snuck one past Jake Paterson on a power play goal by Tyson Fawcett from Aaron Ekblad and Mitchell Theoret. With less than 6 minutes remaining in the period, the Spirit tied the game on an effort by Justin Kea from Zach Bratina and Terry Trafford.

Within two minutes of the start of the third period the Spirit pulled ahead when they found the net on a goal by Justin Sefton from Kristoff Kontos and Eric Locke. Only six seconds later the Spirit increased the gap on a goal off the stick of Dylan Sadowy from Terry Trafford and Justin Kea. The Spirit kept offensive pressure on the Colts for 11 minutes until they received their reward on a goal by Kristoff Kontos from Jimmy Lodge at 12:07.  The game ended with 47 shots on goal from the Spirit and 26 from the Colts.
