Spirit’s three-game winning streak halts at the hands of the Steelheads

MISSISSAUGA, Ont. – On Friday night, the Saginaw Spirit traveled to Mississauga, Ontario for a game against the Central Division’s Mississauga Steelheads looking to build on a three-game winning streak. The first period featured an Albert Michnac goal, his 25th point of the regular season, but the Steelheads opened up a 3-0 lead in the second period thanks to tallies from Michael Little and Brendan Harrogate. The Spirit fought back with a goal shortly before the second period’s conclusion from Danny Katic and added another goal at the opening of the third frame courtesy of Mason Kohn. Eventually, the Steelheads prevailed by a 4-2 margin.

During the first period, both teams put forth a clean frame absent of a penalty and Saginaw secured the majority face-offs at 10-7, but the Steelheads opened up with a 1-0 lead. Less than one minute later the Steelheads added a third from Harrogate, stretching the Mississauga lead to three goals. Danny Katic followed up a play and scored a goal at the 14:07 mark with assists from Keaton Middleton and Camaryn Baber. This was Baber’s first career OHL point. The Steelheads outshot Saginaw 16-6 in the 2nd period.
