John Kisil accepts scouting job in the NHL

SAGINAW, Mich. – Saginaw Spirit General Manager Dave Drinkill announced Friday that long-time Assistant Coach and Assistant GM John Kisil has accepted a scouting position in the National Hockey League.

“The organization could not be happier to see John Kisil receive an opportunity like this,” said Drinkill. “We thank John for his hard work and dedication to the organization over the last 10 years and wish him the best of luck in his career advancement.”

Kisil’s 10 years as a part of the Spirit coaching staff and hockey operations department was the longest serving tenure of any coach in team history.

The Canton, Michigan native is a graduate of Michigan Tech University, where he enjoyed a four-year playing career. He spent the next 10 years coaching in Minor Midget hockey with Detroit Compuware and Honeybaked before being hired by the Spirit in 2007.

The Spirit have begun the process of finding a new assistant coach for the upcoming 2017-18 season.
